Many guests highlight the attentive staff—always friendly and ready to make recommendations. The atmosphere straddles the line between casual and festive, making it ideal for both laid-back lunches and special family dinners. And who can resist the allure of indulging in a delicious homemade dessert after a substantial meal? The selection of drinks—including an excellent beer list—adds to the appeal, making this place a favorite for many.

Most Disliked

Although many love the bustling atmosphere, some guests feel the pub can get crowded, especially on Sundays at peak lunch hours, leading to longer waiting times. A few patrons mention a desire for a broader vegetarian selection beyond the existing offerings. Some diners have noted that during busier times, service can slow down, particularly in the evening hours when the pub reaches full capacity. A minor complaint revolves around the limited space on busy quiz nights, which could be challenging for larger groups. For a quieter experience, visiting during off-peak times is advisable.

Visiting the area and couldn't get booked in for a Sunday roast in the pubs where we are staying. Found the Black boy Inn on the Internet and phoned straight away and had a table booked within half an hour. Really impressed with all aspects of this pub,the lamb was cooked to perfection along with the vegetables and my partner had the turkey roast which was perfect too! Highly recommend this place and would definitely be my local if I lived here. Thank you to all the staff for working to such a high standard.

Just had a wonderful Sunday lunch here, huge amount of meat with all the trimmings and bowls of fresh veggies. The desserts were lovely and good portion sizes too. Staff were friendly and attentive, can't fault them at all, will definitely return. Very reasonably priced too.

Christmas menu was phenomenal. The food was absolutely amazing, great portions and really tasty! Went for the 3 course menu but probably should have done 2 because I needed a nap after the three. Would highly recommend to anyone and everyone!!

Wonderful family owned free house. Very pleasant and attentive staff. Well stocked bar. Well priced food served in pleasant restaurant. Best to make a booking as it is a very popular place. We were a party of ten, so they asked us to pre-order, which wasn't a problem . The food was absolutely fantastic, I can't praise it enough. None of us left anything. It turned out they were a chef down, but you would never have guessed it. I had three courses but two would have been plenty.
